Module 4
Style That Lasts
2 min readEvery garment has a lifecycle: make → wear → care → repair → resell → recycle. Extending the ‘wear’ phase is the most impactful thing you can do, and in this module, I will be teaching you how.
Smart Care Habits
- Wash cold (≤30 °C) to save energy and reduce colour fade and fibre damage.
- Air dry flat or on hangers; tumble only, when necessary, as heat weakens elastane and shrinks wool.
- Avoid overfilling clothes in the wash, it causes friction/pilling; under loading wastes water and energy.
- Avoid fabric softeners they coat fibres and reduce absorbency of the clothes.
- Steam & air clothes between wears to refresh odours and kill bacteria without a full wash.
Fashion First Aid Essentials
Keep these items handy for quick fixes:
- needles (universal + denim)
- threads (poly for strength, cotton for heat safe)
- small scissors
- thimble
- seam ripper
- patch scraps
Reminder: If you care for it, repair it!
